Hey, nothing to apologize for there, don't be sorry about anything.
Thanks for complimenting my work, it means a lot to me that there are people that don't think it's utter crap. xD
Anyways, what do I do? Well, nothing in particular, really. Maybe I read something that intrigues me and makes me think about some issues and stuff, sometimes I just get in a mood for writing and words pour out, sometimes while I'm heavily procrastinating (lazy college student), I like to think about various things and then I try to convert those thoughts into words, and the BEST of all is when something happens to me or when I witness an event that inspires me enough that I want to write in tribute to it.
For example, Ballad of Scotch Urban (a poem that still needs a lot of improvement) is one such thing. Wrote it in about half an hour quite late one weird night.
But mostly, I don't have a formula or anything. There's all sorts of situations that help inspire me and I think that everyone can have a different sort of... poetic catalyst, or whatever you want to call it. What I do know, however, is that it is a very rare occasion that I'll think "Hmm, I'm bored, I could write something" and actually write anything worthwile. Writing poetry isn't the same thing as chopping wood.
Oh and, sorry for the long-winded response, I seem to have gone a bit overboard with my monologue. xD
